The Shift Project

Reducing Gender Inequality with Schedules that Work

Provide high quality work schedules at scale for millions of women working hourly jobs through a novel collaboration with a leading work scheduling software provider.

Millions of hourly women workers face chaotic employer-driven schedules that undermine earnings, caregiving, and advancement. We will collaborate with scheduling-software provider Deputy to test and scale innovative changes that optimize schedules by combining best-practice defaults with cutting edge technology that harmonizes worker and business needs. Moving beyond city-by-city policies or single-firm approaches, we reach thousands of employers across industries and regions to improve advancement, economic mobility, and wellbeing, and close gender gaps in hourly work.
