CEI will lead a national cohort scaling its Child Care Business Lab based in Maine, creating financially sustainable, rural child care models that allow women to thrive at work.
Child care shortages, especially in rural areas, limit women's workforce participation and career growth. CEI's Child Care Business Lab equips entrepreneurs with training, licensing support, business advising, and access to capital to launch sustainable child care businesses. Since 2020, CEI has helped create 56 businesses, serving 1,281 children. Over the three-year project period, CEI will lead a national cohort to replicate this model, creating 100+ businesses and enabling 570 women to work full-time.
